How we ranked
We used the same criteria across every bank in this shortlist:
- Unlimited or very high published transaction allowance
- Definition of included activity
- Monthly fee relative to capacity
- Treasury and cash-management upgrade path
We did not rank by brand size, advertising, affiliate payout or temporary signup bonus. A bank can rank highly for one operating pattern and much lower for another.

Why each bank made the list
1. Huntington — Best for unlimited transaction volume with branch banking
Unlimited Business Checking and Unlimited Plus both publish unlimited transactions.
Best fit: Strong fit for businesses with heavy operating activity that still need a traditional branch relationship.
Watch-out: Cash allowances differ between the two unlimited tiers.
2. Capital One — Best for unlimited digital transactions
Basic, Enhanced and Premier Checking publish unlimited digital transactions.
Best fit: Useful for digitally active companies where ACH and electronic transactions dominate.
Watch-out: Cash and teller use can introduce separate charges or limits.
3. U.S. Bank — Best $0 digital-volume entry
Business Essentials has a $0 monthly fee and unlimited digital transactions, with a smaller allowance for teller/paper items.
Best fit: Good for payment-heavy companies that rarely use paper or teller transactions.
Watch-out: Paper and teller activity are not unlimited.
4. PNC — Best for unlimited activity at a treasury tier
Treasury Enterprise Plan publishes unlimited monthly transactions and $50,000 in monthly cash deposits at no charge.
Best fit: Best for mature operating companies with substantial treasury needs.
Watch-out: This is a higher-service treasury relationship rather than a minimalist small-business account.
5. Fifth Third — Best published finite allowance
Business Elite Checking publishes 1,000 included transactions and $25,000 of cash deposits.
Best fit: Useful when a business wants a very large defined allowance instead of digital-only “unlimited” language.
Watch-out: The fee and balance threshold are higher than entry-level accounts.
Important limitations
Published account allowances are only part of total cost. Businesses should also model branch geography, out-of-pattern transaction fees, wire and ACH pricing, merchant services, user permissions, fraud controls and the value of balances required for fee waivers. Product terms can change after our verification date, so confirm current disclosures before opening or moving an account.
Use the ranking as a shortlist, then model your own month.
The best practical choice is the bank whose fee structure and operating limits fit your actual transaction, cash, payment and servicing pattern—not simply the bank at the top of a generalized list.
